Their story was begun from Los Angels, and played in the clubs such as Whysky a Go Go. In 1977, they got the record deal with Japanese CBS Sony and their first album (called "QUIET RIOT", the Japanese title was "静かなる暴動") was released in the same year. QUIET RIOT continued to play in clubs, but it was hard to get a deal in United States. In 1978, Kelly Garni left the band and Rudy Sarzo joinned. This year, they released their second album "QUIET RIOT II" (its Japanese title was "暴動に明日はない") in Japan. They became more popular in Japan, however, their home country didn't release both of them.

One year later, Randy Rhoads left QUIET RIOT and joinned Ozzy Osbourne. The first period of QUIET RIOT was ended up at that time. But Kevin DuBrow didn't give up to sing. He changed the name to his family name DuBROW and played many concerts from 1980 to 1982. This band, DuBROW, had many members in only 3 years. For example, there were Bob Steffan, Chuck Wright, and Frankie Banali. The strong relationship between Kevin and Frankie was started from DuBROW.
